The book of Hosea presents a vivid picture of God’s covenant relationship with Israel through the prophet’s own life. Hosea’s marriage to Gomer, an unfaithful wife, becomes a living symbol of Israel’s spiritual adultery; pursuing idols and foreign alliances instead of the Lord. Yet, even in judgment, God’s heart is full of mercy, discipline is redemptive, and restoration is promised.
